Fly Fishing/ GT Popping Guide
Fly fishing and spinning gear experts
Located on the beautiful island of Oahu
Honolulu, Hawaii
Aloha Fishing Hawaii specializes in fly fishing and light spin tackle fishing for big Hawaiian bonefish. Also one of the only fishing guides in Hawaii and the United States that specialize in GT(Giant Trevally) topwater lure fishing. We also target bluefin trevally, barracuda, bottom fish and other colorful reef fish. There's nothing like walking the shallow flats on the hunt for a monster Hawaiian bonefish. On the lower tides you'll have a chance to see some big bonefish tailing and mudding in the shallows looking for crabs and mantis shrimps. Cast out way in front of the bonefish and wait.... wait.... strip...BOOM! Bonefish on! GT fishing we'll be outside the lagoon casting topwater poppers and stick baits over the underwater reef drop off's and structures. If you're lucky enough you'll get to experience one of the most incredible blow up attacks in all of fishing.

About Us
Captain Chris Wright
Born and raised in Kaneohe, Hawaii on the island of Oahu, with over 20 years of guiding experience. I've been fishing and exploring the Hawaiian waters my whole life and still learning something new on the water everyday. My dad used to drop me off with the boat at age 14 to explore the bay to fish and learn the reefs and tides of Kaneohe Bay. Nowadays I'm out on the water 25-30 days of the month guiding anglers from all around the world. Everyday I get more in tune with the fish movement and know where the fish are for every tide and weather condition. We practice 100% catch and release on all Bonefish and Trevally.
Guiding is my passion and I love fishing and talking with people from all over the world. We have some of the biggest bonefish on planet earth and currently have guided anglers to 18 IGFA World records. If I'm not out guiding, I'm out fishing on the ocean somewhere for fun. I've learned so much being able to fish with so many different skilled fishermen. I have dedicated my life to becoming the best fishing guide for my client. Putting fishermen on big bonefish, giant trevally or any other fish for the first time is one of the most rewarding accomplishments as a guide. Catching a trophy bonefish on the flats is a rewarding and amazing feeling that I love sharing with other fishermen.
My father, Stan Wright, is well-known for being the fishing host for 11 years on our local fishing TV show "Let's Go Fishing. " That's where I got my love for fishing and traveling. I've been on numerous fishing TV shows, showing my love and passion for fishing. The most famous show I got to be a contestant on was "Top Hooker" which aired on Animal Planet and Discovery Channel around the world for 2 months, 8 episodes with millions of viewers. Myself and 9 other contestants battled for $30,000 and a brand new Chevy Silverado. Other shows I filmed with are American Fly Guide, Kettlebottom Fishing, Larysa Unleashed, Beat Charlie Moore, Extreme Fishing with Robson Green, Hooke, Fishing Tails with Mike Sakamoto, Hawaii Goes Fishing and Let's Go Fishing. Fishing has been in my blood for generations.
I've spent four years working on the TV show "Survivor" as a boat captain for the contestant boat and production crew boats. Being a boat captain for Survivor has taken me all over the world to drive boats. Been lucky enough to captain boats in Cambodia, Mozambique and Fiji. Fun job and lots of standby time to bust out my secret 4 piece fishing rod for a few cast.
I love walking and sight fishing the flats with my fly rod, hunting for big bonefish. I'm also in love with throwing topwater poppers for big GT. Probably the most exciting, powerful and biggest blow up of any fish around the reef. I also enjoy fishing with light tackle spinning gear with topwater swimmy lures and poppers for action packed blow up attacks. Jigging and bottom fishing are both some of my favorite types of fishing also. I spent many days on the open ocean catching yellowfin tuna(ahi), marlin(a'u), wahoo(ono) and mahi mahi. Whether its sight fishing the flats, deep sea, freshwater, saltwater, inshore, offshore,: I love it all.
I've been fishing all over the world from the small islands of Indonesia, jungles of Malaysia, Thailand for monster Toman, beaches of Cambodia, reefs of Midway island, Lakes in South Africa, Mozambiques shorelines of Ponto Do Ouro, Namibia's Zambezi river for tiger fish, flats of Kiribati, hundreds of atolls in Fiji, Mexico's lakes and oceans, sandbars of Nicaragua, ocean and lakes of Costa Rica, crystal clear waters of the Caribbean, Permit flats of Belize, jungles of Peru, rivers of Argentina for golden dorado, Chile rivers of Patagonia and numerous waterways of the mainland USA and I know what it takes be be the best fishing guide in the world for my clients. I wanna put you on that fish of a lifetime. Let's get out on the water for a day of fishing. Aloha!
On low tides you will see big bonefish coming up in the shallows to feed
Fishing for bonefish in Honolulu you'll be able to see views of the iconic Diamond head crater while fishing from many flats and reefs in the lagoon. It's also not uncommon to encounter many endangered Hawaiian green sea turtles (Honu) on the flats and cruising around the lagoon while fishing.
*Ruiz enjoying the views and sea turtles while fighting a nice Hawaiian bonefish on the fly rod.
